Background

Autonomous vehicles teeter on the edge of science fiction and science fact. Algorithms replaces drivers, and everyone can reclaim their time lost in the traffic… but is the advent of technology equivalent to painless user acceptance? The answer is always no.

DriveXP is the user-centered future we envision. Based on L4, it is a stepping stone between the status quo and the fully autonomous future, where we tackle the trust and communication deficit between the users and the systems and bring equity and versatility into the cabin.

Digital Driver

Why: Mental Model Hurdle

People trust human drivers but lack understanding and trust of autonomous systems.

How: Digital Driver Novity

A digital driver with humanlike reactions, awareness, and interactive capabilities.

Customization

Customization options bring joy and strengthen user's connection to the vehicle.

Trajectory Control

Why: Non Driving Centered

Current cabin fails to meet user need in digital life. What will change in an L4 vehicle?

How: Virtual Commands

Trajectory drawing and selection replaced steering wheels. Users can operate the vehicle anywhere in the cabin.

Versatility + Familiarity

Touchscreens leverage existing mental models for familiarity and allow activities like videos and games when Novity drives.

Cabin Arrangement

Why: Front Row Supremacy

Some most joyful conversation happens in the vehicle, but the back row is often neglected.

How: Swivel Seats

Swivel seats for face-to-face communication while maintaining a level of intimacy when there's less passengers.

How: Central Hub

The central hub, with rotating shelves and a screen, provides equal access to all users for their physical and digital life.
